Participation Is Key To The Success Of Any Conference

Home

My Dear African Friend:

I am writing to all our special friends to apprise you on the recent African Solidarity Conference and invite you to become acquainted with the work, objectives, and mission of the Africa Solidarity Council, Inc. The conference commemorated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Pan-Africanism Movement, reaffirmed the call for unity and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and called for the kindling of a rebirth of a "new" Pan-Africanism Movement for the achievement of the two elusive goals of the past: social modernization of African society and the realization of African unity on a continental scale.

The success of any conference does not come easily. It comes because of widespread commitment and support from interested individuals, and in the case of the African Solidarity Conference, from Africans and friends of Africa. If the success of any conference is measured by attendance, then, we will say, unabashedly, that the African Solidarity Conference was not successful because you, you, and you were not there. However, we are gratified by the comments that have been coming in since then. Your statements are a joy to look forward to and we hope to see you next time.

Thanks to you for your donations of time and/or money, the Africa Solidarity Council, Inc. is devoted to a crusade of promoting African unity in the long term. In the immediate, our objective is to make friends with one another, to rebuild trust, while providing services that will enable the African immigrant and non-immigrant overcome some of the psychological and social difficulties that they may face. We incurred a debt of $11,348.25 in organizing and staging the conference and we ask you to help us retire this debt. And we must continue to organize and stage other conferences, workshops, and seminars that will help us realize our objectives.

While your donation will make a difference in the achievement of our short term goal – being each other’s friend and keeper while away from home – and our long term goal – building friendship to rebuild trust for rebuilding Africa and Africa’s new leadership, the lack of your donation and participation will definitely hamper our efforts. Visit us on our website: www.asconline.org and let us know what you think.
