The
Council holds the view that Africa’s condition today (political,
economic, educational, and social) is pathetic.
To change this condition the Council believes that we, as Africans,
need to:
1.
Develop leaders who are cognizant of Africa’s position and are
sympathetic to Africa and her peoples needs, aspirations, and
expectations.
2.
Develop leaders who understand the need for Africa and her people
to begin to
chart their own course and develop their own method for
articulating and realizing their hopes and aspirations.
3.
Develop leaders whose understanding of government will be to
provide leadership and guidance to the people, and create internal
machinery both for development, security, and safety so that Africans do
not leave the African soil to go elsewhere simply because they want to
escape one form of persecution or another, even hunger.
The
Council believes that the present crop of Africa’s leadership is distant
from each other and the people.
This situation has created:
1.
Lack of friendship and solidarity between the leaders and among the
African people.
2.
Lack of cohesion in articulating development and security
strategies.
3.
Leaders are easily manipulated because of their selfish tendencies.
The
African Solidarity Council believes that, collectively as Africans, we can
turn things around.
We believe that Destiny has brought us together in a far away place
for the sole purpose of forcing us to see our short-comings, and the
short-comings of the continent in the areas of political, economic,
educational, social, and cultural development.
To
change the pathetic condition, the Council wants to:
1. Recreate and revitalize the
spirit of Pan-Africanism;
2.
To use the spirit of Pan-Africanism so recreated to create a new
crop of African leadership that possesses:
a.
The goal to see African
nations develop into viable members of the world of
nations.
b.
To see African nations become meaningful contributors to
world’s
economy, development, and progress.
c.
To see Africa become meaningful in world’s defense and in the
defense of its
interests.
3.
Use this spirit to create an abiding friendship with one another
regardless of country or tribe of origin.
4.
Use this spirit to create a higher tolerance level for, and deeper
patience and trust with, one another.
5.
And to use this spirit to create the urgency of now.
